Hi friends! Here’s a homemade face mask recipe which my Sister and I discovered just before her wedding. (Yes, it was meant to be for brides so that they’re glowing during their wedding but come on, good skin is not just for occasions right?) It helps to exfoliate, soften and moisturise my combination skin.
How it benefits me?
I used to have larger pores, blackheads and my face is generally hairy. This recipe if applied weekly helps to unclog my pores, make my blackheads appear less visible and makes the hair around my cheek area look lighter. Overall, it leaves my skin softer and brighter. The coconut oil used is key in helping my dry skin too. It is also my alternative mask for tumeric masks which I need before functions/events to enhance my look.
Gram flour: An excellent exfoliating agent.
Coconut oil: An excellent moisturiser(for combination/dry skin) and reduces inflammation.
Rose water: Evens skin tone, tightens pores, removes oil and dirt
Fun fact: Do you know that back then, princesses and the renowned Queen of Egypt Cleopatra used rose water for its beautifying qualities? Now you do. ;)
Ingredients:
2 teaspoons gram flour (கடலை மாவு)
2 teaspoons coconut oil
2 teaspoons rose water
*Of course, wherever necessary, to dilute/thicken, add rose water/gram flour respectively depending on your preferred consistency.
Steps:
In a small bowl, add 2 teaspoons of gram flour followed by 2 teaspoons of coconut oil. Immediate stir and mix the two ingredients. Then, add 2 teaspoons of rose water and keep mixing till a creamy paste is formed. Add more rose water if necessary.
Apply the paste on your cleansed skin and leave it for a minimum of 15 minutes. Once mask has been dried, attempt without using water to scrub it off in circular motions. If paste is stubborn, you may use water to remove it. Once completely removed, follow up with your usual skincare routine.
P.S. For consistent results, apply the mask once every week.
This is one homemade mask that showed ME results and I hope it’ll help you all if you are looking for a new mask recipe especially if you have a combination skin like mine and want to achieve a clearer skin. Happy “masking”! 💛
Love,
